St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars baseball team faced off with North Central in the first of the three game series and Crown came out on top 15-2 after seven innings.
Crown's offense reached base early and often with clutch hits coming throughout the game. A leadoff single from
Drew Girtz, a few stolen bases, a double from
Tyler Olson, and a single from
Julian Encinas knocked in 5 runs in the bottom half of the first inning. The Polars extended their lead to 7-0 before the Rams put a run on the scoreboard. Crown scored in every inning except the third and went on to win 15-2.
Jacob Van Dam pitched all seven innings striking out 9 batters and just allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run earning his 4th win of the season. Encinas and
Caleb Yowell both totaled 4 RBI's each in the game. Crown as a team totaled 11 hits.
The Polars move to 7-10 on the season and 2-2 in UMAC play and will return back to Missile Park tomorrow March 28th for a doubleheader with North Central to close out the series starting at 1pm.
