Morris, Minn. - The Polars softball team faced off with Minnesota Morris on Saturday and split the two games winning game one 9-2 and falling in game two 5-1.
Crown fell behind 2-0 after the first two innings of play. The Polars tied the score up at 2-2 after the 2nd inning after an error allowing Emmy Romportl and Maliya Martinez to score. The Crown bats came alive totaling 15 hits in the contest knocking in 7 unanswered runs to take home the 9-2 victory.
Katie Vaughan totaled 4 hits in 5 at bats to lead the Polars offense. Martinez tabbed 3 hits and Romportl led Crown with 3 RBI's. Abbie Carroll pitched a complete game earning the win allowing just 2 earned runs in the contest.
Game two saw Morris score five runs in the first two innings. The Polars answered with one run in the top of the 3rd after a hit from Morgan Aylsworth. The score stayed there and Crown fell 5-1.
The Polars totaled just three hits in game two with Abbey Underdahl, Maliya Martinez, and Aylsworth tabbing hits. Abbie Carroll pitched 2 innings and Emmy Romportl pitched 4 innings allowing just 3 hits.
Crown moves to 6-12 on the season and 1-2 in UMAC play and will next take on North Central next Friday March 28th at 4pm in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
