St. Paul, Minn. - The Polars baseball team faced off with Minnesota Morris on Friday night and came out on top 4-2.
The action happened early as the Polars scored to take the 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning. The Cougars answered with one run in the 3rd to tie the score at 1-1. From that point forward Crown knocked in a couple of runs to take the 4-2 lead going into the 5th inning. The Crown pitching staff went to work shutting down the Cougars offense and coming out with the 4-2 win.
Jacob Van Dam pitched 6 innings, earned the win, and gave up only 1 earned run in the process.
Danny Gallardo pitched two innings of perfect baseball and
Quentin Holmes earned the save.
Caleb Yowell led the Crown offense going 2-2 at the plate. 8 different Polars earned hits in the game.
Crown moves to 5-7 on the season and 1-0 in UMAC play and will play a doubleheader against Minnesota Morris starting at 1pm in St Peter, Minnesota.
