Romportl Pitches Complete Game, Polars Softball Splits on Day Two Down in Florida

Naples, FL - The Polars faced off with Lesley University and Geneva College on Saturday and split the two contest defeating Lesley 5-3 and falling to Geneva 15-5.

Crown got out to an early 1-0 lead against the Lynx as Morgan Ayslworth earned an RBI off of a fielders choice. Lesley answered in the bottom half of the 1st inning to tie the score at 1-1. Kya Oakes knocked in two runs for Crown and sinlges from Kaylee Fude and Abbey Underdahl gave Crown the 5-1 lead. After three straight hits from the Lynx and two runs in the sixth inning Emmy Romportl was able to shut the door earning the win as Crown came out on top 5-3.

Romportl pitched 7 innings and totaled 3 strikeouts while just allowing three earned runs. Underdahl and Oakes both tallied 2 hits in ths game as the Polars totaled 8 hits in the game. Romportl also hit her first triple of the season.

Game two saw Crown give up an 11-0 lead to the Golden Tornadoes of Geneva after three innings of play. Oakes and Underdahl got the scoring started with RBI singles in the 4th and 5th innings. Itzel Valles hit a bases clearing double scoring three runs in the 5th inning to cut the Geneva lead to 11-5. Geneva added on in the 7th and Crown fell 15-5.

Abbie Carroll pitched all seven innings in the circle. Itzel Vales and Emmy Romportl both had multi-hit efforts and Valles earned 3 RBI's. 

The Polars move to 3-8 on the season and will take on Alverno and Geneva on Monday, March 17th starting at 8am (CST).
