Mankato, Minn. - The Polars men's basketball team faced off with Bethany Lutheran on Saturday and came out on top 91-88.
Crown jumped out to an eight point lead with 12 minutes left in the first quarter after buckets from
Parker Behne and
Tyrus Buckner. WIth 4:14 to play in the first half the Vikings took the lead back 36-35 after back to back three point baskets. A late run sparked by
Parker Behne gave Crown the lead heading into the half 45-40.
The second half was back and forth as Bethany Lutheran built their largest lead of the game with 7:45 to play with the Vikings ahead 71-61. Three consecutive buckets from
Rayquan Moore cut the lead to 71-69 and prompted a Vikings timeout. Seven lead changes ensued with two baskets and free throws from Buckner and two free throws from
Parker Behne gave the Polars the three point lead with under 5 seconds remaining. The Vikings got an open look at the buzzer but did not capitalize and the Polars were victorious 91-88.
Buckner tallied 37 points and 12 rebounds in a spectacular performance going 15-19 from the field.
Parker Behne had 15 points and Moore had 11 points.
Jacob Van Dam led wtih 6 assists.
Crown moves to 11-8 on the season and 4-4 in UMAC and play will return home to face UM-Morris Wednesday, February 5th at 5:30pm.
