Dominant Opening Quarter leads Polars to 63-44 Victory

Ankeny, Iowa – The Polars traveled to Faith Baptist Bible College on Saturday afternoon and came away with a 63–44 road victory. Sydney Cotton led the way once again, pouring in a game-high 21 points.

Crown jumped out to a fast start in the opening quarter, allowing just six points while scoring 16 of their own. Cotton played all 10 minutes of the first frame and accounted for 10 of the Polars' 16 points.

The second quarter was more evenly contested, but Crown still edged Faith Baptist 14–12 to take a 30–18 lead into halftime. Scoring was balanced in the period, as Kendall Clark and Avery Youngblood each knocked down a three-pointer. Isabelle Sager added four points on 2-of-5 shooting and pulled down three rebounds.

Faith Baptist cut the deficit to eight points in the opening minute of the third quarter, but the Polars responded quickly, pushing the lead back to as many as 17. Crown carried a 51–36 advantage into the final quarter, fueled by another nine points from Cotton, along with additional three-pointers from Youngblood and Clark.

Crown continued its defensive dominance in the fourth quarter, holding Faith Baptist to just eight points. Morgan Bednarek led the Polars with five points in the period as Crown closed out the 19-point victory, 63–44.

Cotton finished with 21 points to lead all scorers, adding four rebounds and an assist. Youngblood and Bednarek each scored 11 points, giving the Polars three players in double figures. Bednarek also recorded the first double-double of her career, pairing her 11 points with 11 rebounds. Sager contributed four points and a team-high seven boards.

The Polars return to action on Friday, December 19, when they host Lakeland University before traveling to California over break for a three-game stretch.
