St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars men's basketball team faced off with UW-Superior on Saturday and fell by a score of 70-56.
Crown took their first lead of the game 8-7 with 14:34 to go in the first half. The Yellowjackets slowly pulled out in front and led by as much as 19 points. The score at the break favored UW-Superior 37-21. Crown went 1-15 from three point range in the first half and shot just 32.14% from the field.
The Polars chipped away at the lead a few times in the second half with the first stretch cutting the lead to eleven points after three straight made layups. Two straight baskets from
Tyrus Buckner and
Carter Behne cut the lead back down to 11 points again with 7:58 to go. A late couple three point baskets from
Parker Behne provided a spark with under 5 minutes to play but Crown fell 70-56.
Buckner led the scoring with 17 points and went 8-10 from the field.
John Grigsby tallied 7 rebounds to lead the Polars.Â
Crown falls to 10-8 on the season and 3-4 in UMAC play and will next head on the road to take on Bethany Lutheran on Saturday, February 1st at 3pm.
