Morris, Minn. - The Polars women's basketball team faced off with the University of Minnesota-Morris on Wednesday and fell by a score of 62-53.
Nine straight points from UM-Morris gave the Cougars an early 9-0 lead in the first quarter. The Polars were able to take the lead rattling off 11 straight points off baskets from Raelin Green, Sydney Cotten, and Brayli Reimer. The Cougars finished the quarter out in front 15-11. The slim lead stayed in favor of Morris after the second quarter with the Cougars holding the halftime lead 28-23.
The second half saw the Polars cut the lead to just five points multiple times. Triples from Jacee Glasgow and Brayli Reimer gave the Polars a chance late in the game, but the Cougars were able to hold off the comeback.
Raelin Green and Sydney Cotten both scored 11 points in the game. Brekyn Hanson tallied 9 rebounds to lead Crown. As a team the Polars shot 35.6% from the field going 21-59 and 34.5% from three-point range going 10-29.
The Polars fall to 2-14 on the season and 1-4 in UMAC play and look to get back on track this Saturday, January 25th at home against the University of Northwestern at 4:45pm.
