Box Score 4 St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars volleyball team totaled 2 wins on Saturday with a 3-2 win over Faith Baptist and 3-0 win over Trinity Bible.
After a pair of scrimmages on Friday Crown took on Faith Baptist. The Eagles jumped out in front early in the first set and went on to take it 25-20. The Polars found their offense in the second and third sets as 14 kills were racked up by the likes of many Polars. Two set wins by scores of 25-14 and 25-21 propelled the Crown lead. A tight 4th set fell in favor of Faith Baptist before the Polars took home the 5th set win and the victory.
Alyssa Heagney notched 18 kills to lead the Polars offense and
Emma Bottelberghe had 17 of her own. Bottelberghe finished with a whopping 44 digs just 1 shy of the school record.
Taylor Schafer tied a school record 4 solo blocks in the contest.
Match two saw Crown come out in full force in the first set keeping the lead throughout after the first few points. After a 25-15 set win Crown won set two by a score of 25-21. From then on the Polars turned on the offense not trailing for a point in the third set as the Polars took down the Lions 25-13 and finished the 3 set sweep.
Schafer led in kills with 12 in the second match.
Shaelyn McNeill led the Crown team in assists with 10.
Ellie Fuller finished the afternoon with 27 digs.
The Polars move to 4-1 tying the most wins for the Polars since 2019 and will look to keep their hot start going on the road next Wednesday, September 11th for a road contest with the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
