St. Bonifacius, Minn. - Polars Volleyball took on the University of Minnesota-Morris Tuesday night for their second UMAC conference game of the season and ultimately fell 3-0.
The Polars went back and forth with the Cougars throughout the first set up until the 16th point where Morris started to pull away late in the set. The Cougars then went on a run with the Polars stealing a few more points with the first set finishing 25-19 with Morris on top.
Alyssa Heagney led the Polars with eight kills in the first set.
Brooke Rummel led the first set with five assists and
Jocelynn Shockley followed close behind with four assists of her own.
Morris started the second set with an early run going up 6-0. From that point on the Cougars were able to maintain their lead and take the set 25-18.
Taylor Schafer led the Polars with three kills in the second set, and
Brooke Rummel added another five assists.
Ellie Fuller also added her second service ace of the match.
After a burst of offense the Polars started the third set out in front 11-6. Morris then began to gain some momentum going on a run and tying it up at 22 late in the set. After a few points and timeouts were traded the Cougars overtook the Polars and took the third set 25-23, winning the match 3-0.
Alyssa Heagney led the Polars with 14 kills,
Brooke Rummel added 20 assists, and
Emma Bottelberghe had 20 digs on the night.
The Polars are set to take on two more conference opponents this weekend, starting off with a match against University of Wisconsin-Superior Friday, September 27th at 7:00 PM in Wisconsin. The Polars road trip will continue Saturday September 28th when they travel to Ashland, Wisconsin to take on Northland College at 11:00 AM.
