Superior, Wis. - The Polars volleyball team faced off with Wisconsin-Superior on the road Friday and fell 3-0.
An even start to the first set evened the score at 5-5 after back to back blocks by the likes of Emma Bottelberge and
Taylor Schafer. Crown held with the Yellojackets trading blows with their UMAC foes evening the score two more times. A late run gave Wisconsin Superior the 23-17 lead and eventually the 25-19 set victory.
The second set was a similar story early in the set as the Polars stayed close down by two points at 17-15. Yet again a late run by the Yellowjackets proved to be too much for Crown to overcome and the Polars dropped the second set 25-16 despite 5 kills from
Sydney Cotten. The Yellowjackets won the third set by a score of 25-11 to take down the Polars in three sets.
Cotten led the team with 6 kills in the contest.
Brooke Rummel did the setting and tallied 17 assists. Ellie Fuler anchored the Crown defense with 17 digs in the match.
The Polars fall to 4-5 on the season and 0-3 in UMAC play and will look to earn their first UMAC victory in a Saturday morning contest with Northland College at 11am tomorrow in Ashland, Wisconsin.
