St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars volleyball team faced off with the Buena Vista Beavers for homecoming on Friday night and fell in three sets.
Buena Vista got out in front early in the first set and held a 15-9 lead. The Beavers stretched the lead to 22-13 before a six point run from the Polars cutting the lead to just two points.
Emma Bottelberghe notched a number of kills in the first set. A three point swing downed the Polars as the first set saw the Beavers win 25-20.
Set two went in the Beavers favor by a score of 25-14. The third set saw Crown jump out in front 12-8 and maintain a lead until ther Beavers evened up the score at 22-22. A service error than a kill from Buena Vista saw Crown down by one. Bottelberghe earned a kill to even the score at 24-24 then utimately the Polars fell by a score of 26-24.
Bottelberghe led offensively with 9 kills on the evening.
Taylor Schafer notched 5 kills and
Madilyn Smith had 4 kills of her own.
Jocelynn Shockley totaled 11 assists filling in as one of the Polars setters.
Sydney Cotten added 2 blocks.
Ellie Fuller earned 18 digs on the defensive end.
The Polars fall to 4-3 on the season and will continue UMAC play at home next Tuesday, September 24th at 7pm against the University of Minnesota Morris.
