River Falls, WI - The Polars Men's Soccer team took on the Falcons of UW-River Falls for the first time in school history on Friday night and fell by a score of 3-1.
An early goal in the 9th minute from UW-River Falls gave the Falcons the 1-0 lead. Crown earned a few yellow cards early in the contest. The first half saw the Polars lead in total shots with a 10-8 margin while both teams were even in the fouls and corner kicks.
The second half saw two goals for the Falcons as a penalty kick goal from the Falcons in the 64th minute and one in the 73rd minute shut put the Polars foe out in front. Late in the contest the first goal of the season was scored for Crown off the foot of
Jude McVety, his first career goal, in the 87th minute after a ball in from
Colin Vilme.
Leo Roque totaled 5 saves in between the posts.
The Polars fall to 0-1 on the season and will next head to Minneapolis, Minnesota Wednesday, September 11th for a 7:30pm non-conference match with the Auggies of Augsburg.
