St. Paul, Minn. - The Polars Baseball team battled with the Northwestern Eagles on Saturday and dropped both by scores of 11-7 and 8-2.
Game one saw the Eagles get on the scoreboard first after a 2 run top of the first inning. Neither team pushed across any runs for the next three innings. Northwestern stretched the lead to 5-0 after the top of 5th inning. Back to back home runs from
Tyler Bloom and
Caleb Yowell drove in three runs for the Polars to cut the lead to 5-3.

Rhys Dewick,
Ashton Long, and
Tyler Bloom drove in two more run to tie the score at 5-5 after 6 innings of play. The Eagles scored 1 run in the top of the 7th and Crown answered with 1 in the bottom half to keep it even at 6-6. The difference in the game was a 5 run 8th inning and Crown fell 11-7.
Yowell went 3-3 and added 2 RBI's to lead the Polars offense. Long and Bloom both had multi-hit efforts.
Ryan Vondracek started on the mound and pitched 4.2 innings.

Aidan Volk-Specht all took the mound.
Game two saw a similar start with Northwestern scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning. The Polars pushed one run across in the 2nd inning after an RBI single from
Tyler Olson.
Jacob Van Dam started on the mound for the Polars and pitched 6 innings only allowing 1 earned run and scattered 5 hits while striking out 5 batters. The Eagles scored 5 runs in the top of the 7th inning to take a 7-1 lead. The final score read 8-2 and the Polars fell.
Hatton and Brock both notched 2 hits in game two. A number of Polars took the mound to close out the contest.
The Polars move to 17-18 on the season and 14-7 in UMAC play and will next head to the UMAC tournament next week.
