St. Paul, Minn. - The Polars Softball team battled with Northwestern in game one of a three game series on Friday and fell 4-0.
Both teams were even after 3 innings of play as both teams left runners on base early on. The difference in the contest was the 4th inning when the Eagles pushed across 4 runs and the Polars left the bases loaded. A quiet 5th, 6th, and 7th innings left the score at 4-0 and the Polars dropped game one.
Crown totaled 3 hits on the day with
Katie Vaughan,
Catelyn Garza, and
Abbey Underdahl all notching one hit each.
Emmy Romportl pitched all 6 innings for Crown and only allowed 2 earned runs on 8 total hits. She struck out 3 Eagles batters.
The Polars fall to 6-29 on the season and 4-12 in UMAC play and will finish of the 3 game series tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 11am.
