St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars Softball team faced off with UM-Morris in a doubleheader on Tuesday and fell in both contests by scores of 8-0 and 9-4.
Game one saw the Cougars score 4 runs across the first three innings of play. The Polars left a few runners on base and totaled 5 hits in the contest. Four late runs from the Cougars put them ahead 8-0 and after 6 innings of play Crown lost 8-0.
Emmy Romportl pitched all 6 innings for the Polars. Five different Crown players earned hits in the contest.
Game two saw Minnesota Morris jump out in front once again this time by three runs. After four quiet innings Crown got some runners on base and saw three runs pushed across.
Abbey Underdahl drove in one run off of a walk and
Catelyn Garza drove in two runs off of a double to left center to cut the Cougars lead to 6-3. Crown left the bases full in two of the final three innings and dropped the contest 9-4.
Katie Vaughan earned two hits in the second contest.
Abbie Carroll pitched a complete game and allowed 5 earned runs across all 7 innings.
The Polars fall to 5-20 on the season and 3-6 in UMAC play and will next head on the road this Friday, April 13th for a three game series with Bethany Lutheran College.
