Mankato, Minn. - The Polars Softball team faced off with the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings on Saturday and lost both contests by scores of 12-0 and 3-0.
Game one saw the Vikings offense show up from the first pitch as they scored 4 runs on 3 hits in the first inning. After a few scoreless inning a 7 run 4th inning from the Vikings pushed the score to 12-0 and the game ended after 5 innings.
Emmy Romportl went 2-2 in game one and earned the only hits for Crown.
The second contest of the day saw the Vikings score three runs in the first two innings. The score stayed at 3-0 as the Vikings went on to win. Crown manged to get 2 runners on base at multiple times in the contest but could not managed a timely hit. Romportl pitched all 6 innings of play and allowed 3 earned runs on 6 hits. She went 2-4 from the plate with two singles.
Sydney Gardner went 1-3 in the second game.
The Polars fall to 5-22 on the season and 3-8 in UMAC play. They will face off with the VIkings in game three of the series on Sunday, April 14th at 1pm.
