St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars softball team faced off with Martin Luther in a conference doubleheader and split losing game one 12-6 and winning game two 8-3.
The Knights pushed across 5 runs in the second inning of game one. Crown answered with two runs of their own on hits from
Kaylee Fude and
Sydney Gardner to cut the lead to 5-2. Martin Luther scored four more runs and stretched the lead to 9-2. Crown scored one run in the 4th and scored 3 runs in the 5th after a three run home run from
Abbey Underdahl her first of the season. The Knights went on to win 12-6.
Fude went 4-4 in game one to lead the Crown offense.
Katie Vaughan and Gardner both totaled multiple hits.Â
Game two saw the Polars jump on the Knights early with a three run home run to left center field off the bat of
Sydney Gardner. Crown led 4-3 after 4 innings of play. Two runs in the 5th inning and one run in the 6th put the Polars out front 8-3. Romportl was able to close out the contest after a complete game allowing just 2 earned runs and striking out three.Â
Six different Polars totaled multi-hit games as
Maliya Martinez, Fude, Underdahl, Gardner, and Vaughan all had multiple hits. Fude and Underdahl both had 2 RBI's.Â
The Polars move to 6-27 on the season and 4-10 in the UMAC and will play game three of the series with Martin Luther on Saturday, April 27th at 12pm.
