St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars baseball team battled with the Bethany Lutheran Vikings on Friday and fell 14-1.
Bethany Lutheran jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and proceeded to score 4 more runs after three innings. The Vikings held Crown scoreless until the bottom half of the 7th inning when a two out single from
Matthew Shaugabay drove in
Ashton Long. The Polars gave up 9 combined runs in the 5th and 6th innings and lost by a score of 14-1.
Bryan Gerbers had an all around solid gam as he totaled 2 hits to lead the Polars offense, pitched 1.1 innings and did not allow any hits, and threw a runner out at home on a throw from right field.
Aidan Volk-Specht started on the mound and was relieved after 2 innings.
Tristan Camp pitched 2 scoreless innings. Crown totaled 7 hits in the contest.
The Polars fall to 6-13 on the season and 4-3 in UMAC play and will look to bounce back against the UMAC leaders tomorrow in a doubleheader starting at 12pm.
