Tucson, AZ - The Polars baseball teams faced off with Luther and Macalester on Saturday and fell by scores of 7-1 and 14-9.
Game one saw the Norse score the first 2 runs of the game. Crown scored one run in the 5th inning but were outscored by five more runs as Luther came out on top 7-1.
Matthew Shaugabay,
Rhys Dewick, and
Howie Hatton all totaled 2 hits each.
Tristan Camp pitched 6 innings of play and allowed 3 earned runs.
Aidan Volk-Specht pitched 2 innings as well.
The second game of the day saw 8 unanswered runs before the Polars got on the scoreboard. Crown put together an exciting 4 inning stretch with 9 total runs but the Macalester lead proved to be too much as Crown fell 14-9. Dewick continued his hot streak at the plate and totaled 3 hits and 5 RBI's from the cleanup spot in the lineup.
Mason Brock and
Bryan Gerbers both had 2 hits. Four different Polars saw the mound.
Crown falls to 2-9 on the season and next open UMAC play on the road for a three game series with Minnesota Morris with the first game being at 3pm on Friday, March 22nd in Morris, Minnesota.
