Baseball Drops Games to Augsburg and Edgewood

Tucson, AZ - The Polars baseball teams faced off with Augsburg and Edgewood on Thursday and fell by scores of 13-6 and 9-5.

Game one saw the Auggies earn the first two runs of game before Crown matched the same two runs with a double from Mason Brock and a single from Rhys Dewick. A big 3rd inning saw Crown total 5 hits and take the 6-2 lead. The Auggies broke open the game with a 7 run 4th inning and went on to take the victory 13-6.

Dewick and Brock both totaled 2 hits each as they led the Polars offense. Six different Polars took the mound to pitch for Crown in the contest.

The second game of the day saw Edgewood take the 7-1 lead over the course of the first 5 innings of play. Crown battled right back with a four run 8th inning sparked by a total of five hits and one walk to cut the Eagles lead to 7-5. Edgewood shut the door with a 2 run home run and the final score read 9-5 in the Eagles favor.

Quentin Holmes started on the mound for Crown and gave up only 2 hits over the course of 4 innings. Zach Anderson, Mitchell Cox, and Caleb Landry all pitched in the contest. Louis Garzie went 2-3 from the dish and Dewick notched 2 hits as well.

Crown falls to 2-7 on the season and will finish up the Tucson Invitational with contests tomorrow March 15th against Luther College at 11:30am (CST) and Macalester College at 3pm (CST).
