Tucson, AZ - The Polars baseball teams faced off with Augsburg and Macalester on Wednesday and fell by scores of 18-7 and 9-5.
Game one saw the Auggies earn the first two runs of the game in the top half of the first inning. Crown evened up the score at 2-2 after a double from
Rhys Dewick and single from
Ethan Habetler. After four innings Augsburg took a 6-5 lead. A few late runs on a
Drew Girtz double wasn't enough as the Auggies totaled 6 runs in the 9th inning and the score finished 18-7.
Bryan Gerbers,
Ethan Habetler, and
Mason Brock all had multi-hit games. Crown sent six different pitchers out to the mound in the first contest.
The second game of the day got off to a hot start for the Crown offense as Brock tripled,
Howie Hatton singled, Dewick singled, and
Tyler Olson singled to take a 3-0 lead. The Polars led 5-3 after 7 innings of play. Crown couldn't hold on as Macalester scored 6 runs in the final two innings as Crown fell 9-5.Â
Payton Clevenger pitched 6 solid innings only allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits. Brock, Hatton, and Olson all notched 2 hits in the contest. Olson led the Polars with 2 RBI's.
Crown falls to 2-5 on the season and will look to get back on track tomorrow March 14th with contests against Augsburg at 12pm (CST) and Edgewood at 3:30pm (CST).
