Baseball Drops Contests to Augsburg and Macalester

Tucson, AZ - The Polars baseball teams faced off with Augsburg and Macalester on Wednesday and fell by scores of 18-7 and 9-5.

Game one saw the Auggies earn the first two runs of the game in the top half of the first inning. Crown evened up the score at 2-2 after a double from Rhys Dewick and single from Ethan Habetler. After four innings Augsburg took a 6-5 lead. A few late runs on a Drew Girtz double wasn't enough as the Auggies totaled 6 runs in the 9th inning and the score finished 18-7.

Bryan Gerbers, Ethan Habetler, and Mason Brock all had multi-hit games. Crown sent six different pitchers out to the mound in the first contest.

The second game of the day got off to a hot start for the Crown offense as Brock tripled, Howie Hatton singled, Dewick singled, and Tyler Olson singled to take a 3-0 lead. The Polars led 5-3 after 7 innings of play. Crown couldn't hold on as Macalester scored 6 runs in the final two innings as Crown fell 9-5.
