Fort Myers, FL - The Polars Softball team faced off with Coe College and Eureka College on Tuesday and fell by scores of 17-0 and 3-2.
In game one Coe had a monster first inning pushing across 10 runs on 7 hits. The Polars struggled to get the bats going as they totaled just 2 hits in the contest.
Abbie Carroll and
Kylei Abreo were the two Polars with base hits. Both
Emmy Romportl and
Abbie Carroll took the circle in the game.
In the second contest of the day Crown faced off with Eureka College. Back to back hits from
Catelyn Garza and
Katie Vaughan put two runners in scoring position.
Sydney Gardner then grounded out to second base to score the first run of the game. Eureka answered back in the bottom half of the first to even the score at 1-1. Crown trailed 2-1 after 4 scoreless innings. Crown evened it back up at 2-2 after singles from Romportl and
Adrianna Geddes but couldn't hold on as Eureka notched one to win in the bottom half of the 7th inning.
Romportl notched a couple of hits in 4 at bats to lead the Polars offense. Carroll pitched all 6 innings, allowed 3 earned runs on 6 total hits, and struck out 6 batters.Â
The Polars fall to 2-10 on the season and look to get back on track Thursday, March 14th with contests against Greenville University at 10am (CST) and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at 12pm (CST).
