St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars Women's Basketball team faced off with the Northland College Lumberjills on Friday night and came out on top 85-21.
Crown jumped out to a quick lead over the Lumber Jills within the first few minutes of Friday night's matchup and maintained their lead for the entirety of the game. Crown finished the first half leading 45-10 and held the Lumber Jills to just 2 points within the second quarter. The Polars outscored Northland 20-2 within the second quarter. Mckenzie Latzke stole the show as she reached the 1,000-point milestone in route to the Polars victory.
Latzke finished the night with 21 points for the Polars. Over her 4-year career at Crown College, she has averaging 13.4 points per game. Latzke is just the third Polars player to reach the 1,000 point milestone in the NCAA-era (since 2008).
11 different players scored for the Polars in tonight's matchup with the Lumberjills. Elli Hemann had 12 points and 10 rebounds on the night for a double-double. Raelin Smalley finished the night with 11 points and Brayli Reimer lead the Polars with 5 steals. Â
Crown moves to 4-18 on the season and will face off with the UW-Superior Yellowjackets, Saturday February 10th at 3pm.Â
