St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars Men's Basketball team squared up with the Lumberjacks of Northland College and came out victorious by a score of 83-70.
The Polars jumped out to a quick 14-point lead with 7 quick points from
Cade Carroll. Crown extended their first half lead up to 18 points after baskets from
Jacob Van Dam and a deep three ball from
Jacob Masek. After a few made shots from Northland, the Polars entered the half with a 16 point lead over the Lumberjacks 40-24.
Crown continued to hold the large lead for the majority of the second half matching the Lumberjacks buckets with ones of their own. With over 3 minutes left to play in the contest Crown held a 23 point lead and looked to close the door on the contest. The Lumberjacks quickly started to inch their way back to within 10Â points as Crown led 77-67 with 1:04Â to play. The Polars converted on their free throws down the stretch and ended the late scare coming out with the victory.
Cade Carroll led the scoring for Crown as he totaled 20 points and also led the team with 8 rebounds. Tyrus Buckner finished with 16 points on the night. Both Carter Behne and Jacob Masek totaled 10 points. Alec Testerman led the Polars with 5 assists. Crown as a team shot 51.8% going 29-56 from the field and 31.8% from three point range going 7-22.Â
Crown moves to 15-7 overall and 7-4 within the UMAC. The Polars are back in action tomorrow February 10th at home against UW-Superior for a 4:45pm tip off.
