St. Bonifacius, MN – Crown squared up against UW-Superior in a critical matchup with playoff implications on the line for both teams on Saturday afternoon.
UW-Superior started this matchup on a 10-0 run to take an early lead on the Polars and extended the lead to 24-5 halfway through the first half. The half-finished with the Yellowjackets leading the Polars 41-23. Crown struggled shooting the basketball as they shot just 27.3% from the field within the first half of play.
Van Dam gave the Polars an early spark as he connected with two early threes to start the second half. The shooting struggles continued for Crown within the second half as they finished the game shooting just 32% from the field and went 4-22 from beyond the 3-point line. The Yellowjackets held off the Polars throughout the second half and Crown fell by a score of 79-61.
Jacob Van Dam lead the scoring for the Polars with 13. Cade Carroll added 11 points for Crown. Ladd, Carroll, and Van Dam each had two assists on the night. Jacob Masek led the Polars with 8 rebounds.
Crown falls to 15-8 on the year and 7-5 in UMAC play. The Polars are back in action February 16th in Minneapolis against North Central University at 7:15PM.
