Moorhead, Minn. - Polars men's basketball faced off with the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers on Friday night and fell by a score of 73-66.
Both teams traded baskets early on with the Cobbers tying the score up at 18-18 with 10:26 to play in the first half. Concordia make three straight three point buckets to take their largest lead of the game of eight points at 34-26 with just over 5 minutes remaining in the first half. The lead would stay at 8 points favoring the Cobbers at halftime 41-33.
The start of the second half saw Concordia slightly pull out in front by 9 points 55-46 with 13 minutes to play in the contest. The Polars started to chip away at the lead and cut the lead to just 4 points with under ten minutes to play after a nice fade away jumper from Levi Royston. With just 3:22 remaining Crown inched closer as the score sat at 65-63 favoring the Cobbers. Carter Behne tied the score up with under two minutes remaining. Concordia jumped back in front and held off the Polars to take the 73-66 win.
Carter Behne led the scoring for Crown with 18 points as he went 7-12 from the field and 4-5 from three-point range. Anthony Knight scored 14 points and Tyrus Buckner scored 10 points. Buckner led Crown with 8 rebounds.
The Polars fall to 7-4 on the season and will next open UMAC play after the new year on the road at Northland College on Wednesday, January 8th at 5:30pm.
