Box Score St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars men's soccer team took on North Central in the NCCAAA DII North Region Final on Wednesday and came out on top 5-2.
The rain was falling for a majority of the contest making for an intriguing match.
Jose Lovera got the scoring started early in the 7th minute off an excellent ball in from
Alan Montano. Montano then connected on a header to push the lead to 2-0 after
Marcus Banegas looped a ball in off a corner. The match got a bit chippy as the Rams had a player get a red card and had to play a man down. The Polars took the 2-0 lead into half.
The Rams brought the energy out of the half cutting into the Crown lead in the 61st minute 2-1. From there on Crown scored three goals with
Colin Vilme,
Luke Kamm, and
Omar Navarro all scoring. Crown finished the contest with the 5-2 lead and earned the victory.
With this win the Polars clinched their spot in the NCCAA DII National Championship Tournament set to take place next week starting on Monday, November 18th down in Kissimmee, Florida.
