St. Bonifacius Minn. - Crown Volleyball hosted the Northland College Lumberjills this Friday night and fell 3-1. This drops the Polars to 6-13 on the season and 1-10 in conference play.
Early in the first set the Polars kept it close with Northland, with the score tied at 11-11. From that point forward the Lumberjills were able to jump out in front of the Polars gaining a 19-14 lead. Northland kept that momentum going and finished the first set with a 25-18 set win. The second set started with back-to-back service aces from
Emma Bottelberghe giving the Polars a 6-3 lead. Northland took the lead back from the Polars and took control of the rest of the second set. The Lumberjills took the set 25-11.
The third set was a completely different story for the Polars. Crown came out firing leading 10-6 early in the set. The Polars were able to build off that momentum and steal set number three from the Lumberjills 25-14. The Lumberjills took the early 14-10 lead over the Polars in the fourth set. After a late battle from the Polars, Northland was able to fend off the Polars in the fourth set 25-21.
Bottelberghe led Crown with 17 kills on the night, and
Alyssa Heagney added another ten.
Brooke Rummel led the Polars with 24 assists on the night.
Ellie Fuller had 25 digs on the night, while Bottelberghe added 21 of her own.
The Polars will host the University of Wisconsin-Superior for Senior Day tomorrow Saturday, November 2nd at 11:00 am.
