MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.- The Crown College Men's Soccer Team is off to a great start in 2024. The lads took a 4-1 UMAC record on the road and put it to the test in downtown Minneapolis. The Polars took on the Rams from North Central and were victorious 3-0.
Why are the Crown Polars one of the top teams in the UMAC during the early stages of the Men's Soccer season in 2024? Well, there are many reasons. Crown's explosive offense is one of the most prominent reasons for their success early on this season. The Polars have scored early and often against conference opponents this fall.
The theme of scoring early and often continued in Saturday's match against NCU.
Alan Montano scored in only the second minute of action to give the Polars an extremely early 1-0 lead.
Juan Fernando Arriaga was credited with the assist.
In the 17
th minute, it was
Timmy Jackson who took a pass from
Jose Lovera and found the back of the net. Crown took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break. Two minutes into the second half and Jackson scored his 8th goal of the season to take the 3-0 lead and eventually the win.
Leo Roque notched three saves in the 90 minutes of play with the clean sheet. With 9 shots on goal Crown found more opportunites to put the ball in the box compared to just 3 from the Rams.
Crown moves to 5-5 on the season and 5-1 in UMAC play and will face off with the conference leaders in Wisconsin-Superior at home next Tuesday, October 8th at 7pm.
