St. Bonifacius, Minn.- Crown College men's soccer took on the University of Wisconsin-Superior Tuesday night and fell in a hard fought battle to the UMAC leaders 3-0.
The first half of play was a defensive battle, with only one goal being scored by either team. The Polars held the Yellowjackets scoreless until the 38th minute when Superior put the first goal of the match on the scoreboard. Throughout the first half Crown sank back and held the Yellowjackets at bay. The Polars only managed two shots in the first half.
The Yellowjackets added a couple more goals before the game ended, scoring off a PK in the 64th minute and then firing back with another quick goal in the 66th minute moving the score up to 3-0. From that point on neither team was able to find the net, ending the match at 3-0 with the Yellowjackets on top. Crown totaled five shots on goal on the evening, and
Leo Roque added eight saves defensively.
The Polars move to 5-6 on the season and 5-2 in conference play. The Polars' next match up is scheduled on the road against the University of Northwestern on Saturday, October 12th at 1:00 PM.
