St. Bonifacius, Minn. - Crown men's soccer took on the Northland College Lumberjacks at home Tuesday night and came out on top with a 6-1 victory.
Crown maintained possession for a majority of the game and scored first with
Ashton Hosler scoring in the 12th minute off an assist from
Pedro Silveira and
Jose Lovera. Northland responded quickly, scoring a goal of their own tying the game 1-1. The Polars added one more score before the half off a goal by
Sebastian Bocanegra, moving the score 2-1 going into the half.
The second half was dominated by the Polars with four goals being scored. The scoring started with a goal by
Juan Fernando Arriaga off an assist from
Jose Lovera in minute 50. The Polars scored again in the 66th minute when
Timmy Jackson punched in his 10th goal of the season off another assist from Lovera, increasing the Polars lead to 4-1.
Colin Vilme scored in the 74th minute with ease after the keeper collided with one of his teammates.
Isaac Schulz scored the Polars final goal of the evening off the assist from Bocanegra ending the game at 6-1 in favor of the Polars. Goalkeeper
Leo Roque totaled one save on the day.
With this win the Polars advance to 8-7 on the season and clinch a spot in the UMAC Playoffs. Crowns next contest will be on the road against Hamline University Thursday, October 24th at 3:30 PM.
