St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars men's soccer team faced off with the Bethany Lutheran Vikings on Wednesday evening and fell 2-0.
The Vikings got on the board in the 2nd minute to take the lead. Crown had a few opportunities as they totaled 4 shots in the first half. The Polars held even with Bethany Lutheran for the remaining time in the half as the score rested at 1-0.
The second half was a battle back and forth and Crown once again had a few opportunities where a couple solid saves from the Vikings keeper kept Crown from scoring. The match was very physical as 6 yellow cards were given out as two Crown players were given cards and four from Bethany Lutheran. A foul in the 80th minute against Crown in the 18 yard box allowed the Vikings to tack on one more goal stretching the lead to 2-0.
Crown totaled 8 shots compared to 14 for Bethany Lutheran.
Leo Roque totaled 4 saves in goal in the 90 minutes of play. As a team the Polars managed just 3 shots on goal.
The Polars fall to 4-5 overall and 4-1 in UMAC play and will next head to North Central this Saturday, October 5th for a matchup with the Rams at 4:30pm.
