St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The Polars volleyball team took on the Northwestern Eagles on Tuesday and fell by a score of 3-0.
Coming into the contest the Eagles were ranked #13 nationally. Northwestern took an early lead 11-4 in the first set before rattling off 14 points to take the 25-6 first set win. Crown took an early lead in set two 3-2 off of a kill from
Taylor Schafer. Northwestern jumped back out in front but Crown battled right back to cut the Eagles lead to 14-12 after kills from a trio of Polars.
Crown added a few more points but fell by a score of 25-17 in the second set. The third set went the Eagles way 25-9. Schafer led the offensive effort with 4 kills.
Ellie Fuller totaled 15 digs and
Emma Bottelberghe totaled 14 digs.
Alyssa Heagney added an ace.
The Polars fall to 5-9 on the season and 1-6 in UMAC play and will next take on Maranatha Baptist in a neutral site non-conference matchup on Saturday, October 19th at 2pm.
