Eagles Best Polars in Friday Evening Matchup 71-56

St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars Women's Basketball team faced off with the Northwestern Eagles on Friday and fell by a score of 71-56.

A hot start from the Eagles saw Crown fall behind early 10-2 with six minutes to play in the first quarter. Back to back threes from McKenzie Latzke and Brayli Reimer and two more buckets from Reimer brought Crown to within five points as the score settled at 20-15 at the end of the first quarter. The Polars brought some energy out of the break and brought the lead to within one point two different times in the second quarter. A late run from Northwestern stretched the lead back out to ten as the score at halftime read 40-30 in Northwestern's favor.

Once again Crown battled right back into the contest cutting the Eagles lead down to just four points. The Eagles answered right back with a 16-8 run to end the quarter. The Eagles held on to the double digit lead and the final score favored the Eagles 71-56.

Brayli Reimer led the scoring for Crown with 14 points on six made baskets and two three's. Reimer also led the Polars with 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Latzke totaled 10 points and 3 rebounds. The Polars as a team shot 35.5% from the field going 22-62 and 29.4% from three point range going 10-34.

The Polars fall to 2-14 on the season and 1-5 in UMAC play and will return home tomorrow afternoon to face off with North Central at 3pm.
