St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars Football team faced off with the Austin College 'Roos and fell by a score of 34-23.
Austin jumped out in front early scoring on each of their first two drives to take a 10-0 lead. Crown offensively struggled on their first four possessions bust were able to score on their fifth drive of the game. After a field goal from Austin the Polars scored on 1 play a 75 yard touchdown throw from
Diego Narezo to freshman wideout
Christoff Seneca. On the Roo's next possession they knocked 6 and a half minutes off the clock and ended with a field goal to push the score to 16-7. With just 29 seconds left in the half the Polars notched another touchdown once again to Seneca and the score would sit at 16-14 at half in favor of Austin.
The second half saw the 'Roos score 11 unanswered points. In the middle of the fourth quarter the Polars were able to march down the field and score, this time through the air from Narezo to
Isaiah Anfield for the 11 yard score. This brought the Polars back to within one possession as the score sat at 27-21. With just over four minutes to play in the game the Polars stopped the 'Roos on third down leaving a fourth and short. Austin would break a 28 yard touchdown run and move the score to 34-21. With 58 seconds to play Austin voluntarily took a safety and the final score finished at 34-23.
Crown's passing game was in full effect as Narezo totaled 445 yards through the air and 3 touchdowns along with 2 ints.
Jonathan Wamsley led the rushing attack with 5 carries for 36 yards.
Christoff Seneca led the receiving with 163 yards and 2 touchdown grabs.
Terry Warner totaled 10 receptions for 115 yards. Isaiah also totaled 9 catches for 71 yards and a score.
Nathan Tomlinson led the defensive effort with 13 total tackles.
Rudy Criner continued his dominant effort with 10 tackles.
Gabe Banks totaled 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks to go along with 9 tackles.
The Polars fall to 0-4 on the season and will look for their first win as they return home next Saturday, September 30th to take on the Westminster College Blue Jays at 12pm for Homecoming.
