Volleyball Falls to Knights in Four Sets

St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars Volleyball team faced of with the Carleton Knights in a nonconference match up on Wednesday night and fell 3-1.

Early in the first set the Polars took a 12-8 lead, but a 17-8 run to end the set saw the Knights take the first set. After five lead changes in the second set the Knights took the second set 25-20. Down two sets to none the Polars battled back and won the third set by a score of 26-24. A back and forth set ensued with the Polars trading blows with the Knights totaling seven lead changes in the fourth set. The Polars would eventually fall in the fourth set 26-24.

Alysaa Heagney once again led the offensive attack for the Polars as she totaled 12 kills on the evening. Sydney Cotten finished with 4 kills and Jocelynn Shockley finished with 3 kills. Shaelynn McNeill lead the Polars setters with 17 assists. Maggie Claussen and Emma Holey both totaled 19 digs to lead the defense. Heagney also added 14 digs. Maggie Claussen finished with a career high 4 aces on the night.

The Polars fall to 2-8 on the season and will beign UMAC play on Saturday, September 16th at 12pm on the road at North Central.
