Polars Baseball Falls to Bethel in Final Regular Season Games

St. Paul, MN - The Crown College Polars Baseball team went on the road in a doubleheader against the Bethel Royals on Sunday and fell in both games.

Game one started in the Polars favor as Crown scored 3 runs in the top of the first inning after two walks and hits from Rhys Dewick, Mason Brock, and Tristen Ciarlo. Crown scored one more run to take a 4-2 after a single from Seth Betts and a double from Cael Magill. Bethel from there on out ran away with the game scoring 19 unanswered runs. It is worth noting that Crown played 15 players in the field with under a week to go until the UMAC tournament and Crown fell 21-4.

Crown threw 7 different pitchers all for less than an inning and a third with Danny Gallardo taking the loss. Six Polars notched hits in the contest all with one apiece.

The second game of the day saw Bethel score 3 runs within the first four innings. Crown however was able to score two of their own with hits from Will Cantrell, Seth Betts, Tristen Ciarlo, Drew Girtz, and Ethan Habetler. A three run sixth inning from the Royals and Crown fell behind 6-2. The Polars were unable to get any base runners in the top of the 7th and Crown fell 6-2.

Caleb Keen pitched three innings only allowing 2 earned runs and 4 total hits. Tyler Bloom pitched 1 inning and took the loss, while Bryan Bullock pitched 2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Will Cantrell and Seth Betts both notched 2 hits in the contest.

The Polars fell to 20-18 on the season and will head into the UMAC tournament as the number three seed and will start tournament play on Thursday, May 11th.
