St. Paul, MN -  After winning game one yesterday in the three game series with the Eagles the Polars Baseball team faced off with Northwestern in a doubleheader and fell in both games by scores of 8-2 and 13-0.

Game one saw the Eagles notch the first runs of the game with one run in the second inning and three more in the third to put the Eagles out in front 4-0. Back to back hits started out the 4th inning in the right direction and a sacrifice fly from
Rhys Dewick brought in
Howie Hatton for the first run for Crown. The inning would end there with two runners left on base. A four run seventh inning from Northwestern put the Polars down 8-1. Crown scored one more late in the 9th inning after a few walks and a Hatton single but the rally ended there as Crown fell 8-2.
Howie Hatton once again led the hitting for Crown with yet another 3 hit game as he went 3-5 and added an RBI. Tyler Van Cise started on the mound as he pitched 3 innings allowing 3 earned runs on 4 hits and struck out two batters. Four other Polars took the mound with
Tyler Bloom pitching 3 innings and 1.1 innings from
Ryan Vondracek.
Game two started out in a similar fashion as the Eagles put up four runs through the first two innings with another two runs coming before Crown had runners in scoring position. A double and two walks gave Crown an opportunity in the top of the 5th inning to cut into the Eagles 6-0 lead. A big bottom half of the inning from the Eagles would give them a 13-0 lead and that is where it finished.
Crown totaled 4 hits in game two split amongst four different guys these being
Howie Hatton,
Rhys Dewick,
Drew Girtz, and
Matthew Shaugabay.
Jacob Van Dam started and finished four full innings.
Jefferson Barmoy,
Liam Jones, and
Charlie Joyce all took the mound in the contest.
The Polars move to 8-10 on the season and 2-2 in UMAC play and will take on Northland College in a three game series at home with one game on Friday, April 14th at 3pm and a doubleheader at 12pm and 2:30pm on Saturday, April 15th.
