Baseball Sweeps Knights, Polars Move to 11-3 in UMAC Play

New Ulm, MN - The Crown College Polars defeated the Martin Luther College Knights on Monday in both games coming out on top by scores of 19-2 and 14-4.

Game one saw Martin Luther score the first runs of the game going ahead 2-0 in the top of the first inning. The Knights lead wouldn't last long as Crown totaled 6 runs in the bottom of the second inning on a few walks and three hits. The third inning was more of the same as Crown took at 10-2 lead. A monster 5th inning from the Polars totaled 9 runs and Crown sailed to a 19-2 victory.

Ashton Long led the offense going 3-4 with 4 RBI's. Seth Betts, Howie Hatton, and Rhys Dewick all notched multiple hits in the effort. Liam Jones pitched a complete game only allowing 5 hits in the process and 2 earned runs.

Game two was much of the same as the Polars scored 10 runs in the first three innings. The Knights were able to score 3 runs in the 4th inning after a home run. Thre more runs from the Crown offense put the Polars ahead 14-4 and the game would end there with another run rule win. Seth Betts, Jack Becker, and Tristen Ciarlo totaled a combined 10 hits in the contest and 6 RBI's. Payton Clevenger pitched 3.2 innings and both Blake Cramer and Danny Gallardo pitched in the contest.

The Polars move to 17-11 on the season and 11-3 in UMAC play putting them first in the conference. Their next matchup is tomorrow April 25th on the road at Minnesota Morris at 3pm for a crucial third matchup with the Cougars.
