Baseball Drops Game to Wheaton 16-4

Auburndale, Florida - The Polars Baseball team faced off with Wheaton College (Mass.) on Thursday and took an early lead but were unable to maintain the lead falling by a score of 16-4.

The Polars started the game hot out of the gate loading up the bases in the first but could not get anyone home. The Polars tacked on two runs in the second inning in the top of the 2nd inning as Mason Brock led off with a double, Tristen Ciarlo walked, and a Cael Magill single drove in one run with another run coming in off an error. The rest of the game from there on out was all Wheaton as they scored 16 unanswered runs. Crown would get two more runs across with one run coming in off of a Jack Becker double and another on coming off of a few walks.

Jack Becker led the offensive effort for Crown going 3-4 on the day with a double. Cael Magill and Mason Brock both notched multi-hit games with Magill going 2-4 and Brock 2-3. Five Polars pitched in the effort with each pitcher throwing less than 3 innings apiece.

Crown falls to 6-4 on the season and looks to get back on track with their final games of the RussMatt tournament in Florida taking on Coe College in a doubleheader Friday, March 17th at 1:45pm and 4:15pm.
