St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown Polars faced off with the University of Northwestern Eagles on Saturday, falling by a score of 77-47.
The first quarter went the Eagles' way with the Eagles going on a 16-0 run at the midway point of the quarter. Crown found a couple buckets from
Amy Martius and
Shauna Thompson to cut the lead to eleven to end the quarter. The Second quarter saw even play with the score ending at 42-27 at the half. The third quarter saw the Eagles push the lead a bit further and the Polars just couldn't quite claw their way back into the game with the final score settling at 77-47.
McKenzie Latzke led the scoring for Crown with 14 points and shortly followed by 11 points from
Madi Hecox.
Madison Morken led the rebounding for Crown with 4 rebounds.
Raelin Smalley also added 3 assists for the Polars Women.
Crown shot 32.1% as a team going 18-56 from the field and 29% from three-point range going 9-31.
The Polars Women fall to 9-9 on the season and 4-6 in UMAC play and will return home to face off with the Bethany Lutheran Vikings Friday, February 10
th at 7:15pm.
