St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown Polars faced off with the University of Northwestern Eagles on Saturday, falling by a score of 77-67.
The first half started out with the Eagles taking the lead and they would hold the lead for most of the half. The Eagles stretched the lead to fourteen with 6 minutes to go in the half. Crown wouldn't let that be the story of the first half, with buckets from six different players Crown surged back into the game and ended the half with a
Micah Ladd bucket in the lead 33-31.
The Eagles once again came out hot to start the half going up by fourteen with 13:57 to go in the game. Buckets from
Cade Carroll,
Jacob Masek, and
Seth Royston cut the Eagles lead to 4 with 6:47 to go, but Crown couldn't keep up ultimately falling by a score of 77-67.
Both
Cade Carroll and
Jacob Van Dam led the scoring with 15 apiece shortly followed by 10 points from
Seth Royston and
Carter Behne. Van Dam led the rebounding with 6 rebounds and
Alec Testerman totaled 4 assists.
Crown shot 39.7% as a team going 27-68 from the field and 23.1% from three point range going 6-26. Crown scored 32 points in the paint and 10 points off of turnovers.
The Polars Men fall to 12-9 on the season and 3-7 in UMAC play and will return home to face off with the UMAC leading Bethany Lutheran Vikings Friday, February 10
th at 5:30pm.
