St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown College Women's Basketball team faced off with the North Central Rams on Friday, falling by a score of 74-61.
The first quarter saw North Central go out in front quickly with North Central scoring 30 points in the first quarter with the first quarter ending with a score of 30-12. The second quarter saw the Polars jumpstart their offense after falling behind by twenty-one points. The Crown women cut the lead to seventeen at half after a few buckets by
Madi Hecox and
McKenzie Latzke.
The third quarter saw Crown score ten unanswered points before a timeout from the North Central bench. The Polars struggled to continue the comeback from there on out, cutting the lead to within 8 multiple times with the end of the game finishing with Crown falling by a score of 74-61.
Amy Martius led the scoring for Crown with 17 points and she also grabbed 6 rebounds to lead the team. Both
Isabelle Sager and
McKenzie Latzke scored double digits with Sager scoring 13 and 12 for Latzke. Hecox also grabbed 6 rebounds for Crown.
The Polars as a team shot 35.4% going 23-65 from the field and 32.1% from three-point range going 9-28.
Crown returns to action tomorrow February 4
th at 4:45pm at home against the University of Northwestern Eagles.
