Van Dam Ties Single Game 3’s Record, Polars Top Lumberjacks 86-71

Ashland, WI - The Crown College Polars faced off with the Northland College Lumberjacks on Friday ultimately ending up on top by a score of 86-71.

The Crown men jumped out in front to an early 14-7 lead to start the game after buckets from Jacob Van Dam and Seth Royston. Crown would hold the lead until about 11 minutes to play in the half when Northland took a 20-18 lead. The Polars inches back in front and would end the half up by two, 38-36.

The second half saw the Polars go on a 15-8 run after buckets from four different players. After a few made shots from Jacob Masek and Carter Behne the Polars pushed out in front 72-55 with five minutes to go and continued to hold the lead. A late run by Northland was not enough and Crown would go on to win 86-71.

Jacob Van Dam led the scoring for Crown with 26 points on the evening. Van Dam tied the single game record for three point baskets made in a single game with 8. Cade Carroll tabbed a double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Seth Royston also put up 13 points. Jacob Masek led the rebounding with 11 on the day.

Crown as a team shot 45.8% from the field going 33-72 and 40% from three point range going 14-35.

The Polars move to 15-9 on the season and 6-7 in UMAC play. They return to action tomorrow facing off with the UW-Superior Yellowjackets at 3pm.
