St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown College Polars Men's Basketball team faced off with the Martin Luther College Knights on Saturday ultimately ending up on top 84-64.
The first half saw Crown jump out in front early and hold their lead throughout the half. Crown pushed their lead 18-8 with 14:47 to go in the half behind buckets from
Cade Carroll and
Jacob Masek. The knights cut Crown's lead to just 6 with 7:19 to go. Crown hung onto their lead holding out the half up by four with the score at 41-37 to close the half.
Crown extended the lead early in the second half pushing it to 60-43 with 14:37 to go in the half. Baskets by Carroll and Masek pushed the lead out and the Polars didn't look back from there, outscoring the Knights 43-27 in the second half. Crown finished the game on top by a score of 84-64.
The Polars were led offensively by
Cade Carroll who scored 20 points and nabbed 5 rebounds.
Jacob Masek followed with 15 points and 11 rebounds to attain a double-double.
Seth Royston,
Jacob Van Dam, and
Carter Behne all scored double digits with 10, 14, and 11 respectively. Micah led Crown in assists totaling 6 on the day.
The Polars shot 44% from the field going 33-75 and 29% from three-point range going 9-31.
Crown moves to 14-9 on the year and 5-7 in the UMAC. The Polars head on the road for the final weekend of UMAC play. They will take on the Northland College Lumberjacks on Friday, February 17
th at 5:30pm in Ashland Wisconsin.
