Superior, WI - The Polars Men's Basketball team headed on the road for a contest with UW-Superior and took home the win 67-58.
Crown got hot early and took an eight point lead and stretched it to fifteen after back to back triples from
Carter Behne and one from
Cade Carroll. The Yellowjackets chipped away at the Polars lead and trimmed it to just 8 at the break.
The scoring came a bit tougher for both teams in the second half but Superior came out of the gates and brought the Polars lead down to just one point with 15 minutes left to play. Two more buckets from Behne and one from
Tyrus Buckner stretched the lead back to eight points as Crown led 50-42 with 11:46 to play. For the first time since the first thirty seconds in the contest the Yellowjackets took the lead 54-52. Crown shut the door late and held UW-Superior to just 4 points in the final seven minutes of play. After points from
Jacob Van Dam and Buckner, Carroll knocked down four free throws to secure the 67-58 win.
Cade Carroll and
Carter Behne both totaled 15 points on the evening. Carroll also led in rebounds with 13 for yet another double-double. Van Dam finished with 13 points and Buckner totaled 12 points.
Jacob Masek also had 13 rebounds to match the team's best.
Micah Ladd led the team with 8 assists.
Crown shot 41.3% from the field and 31.8% from the three point line. The Polars edged the Yellowjackets in fast break points, bench points, and points off of turnovers.
Crown moves to 6-3 on the season and 1-0 in UMAC play and will face off with the Northland College Lumberjacks on the road tomorrow at 4:45pm.
