St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars Women's Basketball team faced off with UW-Stout on Friday and fell 80-57.
Coming into the contest UW-Stout had received votes in the d3hoops.com top 25 poll as the Polars looked for their second win of the season.
Crown came out hot early with 8 straight points after baskets from three different Polars. Crown was able to hold on to the lead and keep the Blue Devils at bay as the quarter ended at 15-12. The second quarter was all UW-Stout as they put up 33 points. The Polars only notched 9 points in the second as the score at the half settled at 45-24. The third quarter once again favored the Polars as
Sonia Urbina scored 9 points in the quarter and the Polars cut the UW-Stout lead to just 18. Crown knocked on the doorstep a few times cutting the lead to 16 points but UW-Stout came out on top 80-57.
Sonia Urbina led the scoring with 17 points for Crown.
Isabelle Sager recorded her second straight double-double and finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Crown as a team shot 44.9% from the field and 37.5% from three point range.Â
The Polars fall to 1-6 on the year and will now open up UMAC play with their next contest on the road at UW-Superior for a 5:30pm contest on Friday, December 8th.
