Ladd Breaks School Record for Career Assists as Polars Fend Off Tigers 90-79

St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars Men's Basketball team faced off with the Grace Christian Tigers on Monday and came out on top 90-79.

Four lead changes in the early goings saw the Polars out in front 17-12. Crown held on to their lead until 7 minutes left in the half as a jumper pushed Grace Christian back out in front 25-24. Crown inched out in front to end the half after buckets from Cade Carroll and Micah Ladd. The sixteen to nine run left the score at 40-34 to end the half, Crown out in front. An early second half run from Crown and the Polars stayed out in front for quite some time, holding on to the ten point lead. The Tigers cut the lead down to seven multiple times but timely buckets from the Crown side held the score in their favor and Crown came out on top 90-19.

Carroll scored 28 on the evening including a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line. Tyrus Buckner finished with 17 rebounds for the Polars and added 1 block and 5 rebounds. Jacob Masek led the rebounding with 7 boards and also notched 6 assists. Micah Ladd totaled 5 assists and officially surpassed Truman Shelter as the school record holder for career assists in the NCAA-era.

The Polars shot 50.9% from the field and 35.7% from deep. The Polars got to the free throw line a whopping 33 times and knocked down 27 of them.

Crown moves to 4-0 on the season and will next head to Luther College on Saturday, November 25th for a 3pm tipoff.
