St. Bonifacius, MN - The Polars faced off with the Trinity Bible College Lions on Saturday for the home opener and Crown came out on top 91-79.
Crown edged out in front 7-6 after buckets from
Cade Carroll and
Jacob Van Dam. The Lions then answered with an eleven to four run to push out in front 17-11. The first half saw eight lead changes before Crown pushed out in front by nine points with 1 minute to play in the half. The late run gave the Polars a 42-35 lead at half.
The Lions came out at half shooting hot as they knocked down 6 straight threes. Crown took the lead back after five minutes of play in the second half and maintained a slim lead throughout the half. With a few minutes to go Crown forced a few turnovers and scored a couple of baskets to put the game away as they came out on top 91-79.
Four Polars scored in double digits as newcomer
Tyrus Buckner finished with 23 points on the night.
Cade Carroll finished with 17 points on the day and led Crown with 13 rebounds. Both
Jacob Van Dam and
Carter Behne finished with 10 points. Crown shot 51.5% from the field going 34-66.
Crown starts the year 1-0 and will head on the road on Wednesday, November 15th for a 7pm game at Saint Mary's in Winona, Minnesota.
